Why Turn The Tide?

For the millions of uninsured and underinsured, the American Health Care system doesn't work. Turn the Tide Health Collaborative was formed by a group of alternative medicine practitioners to offer a different way of delivering health and wellness services to people in Maine.

Turn the Tide developed out of our collective concern for the well being of people caught in the widening gulf between those served by social service organizations, and those with conventional health insurance. This situation has been long in the making, but is escalated by the economic recession.

For years, our network has been quietly structuring various barter arrangements for patients without insurance, working with them to find creative ways to get them the care they need, but can't afford.

Our goal is to offer a local solution in a wellness based education and treatment model, and it is our hope that providers in other areas of the state will also collaborate to turn the tide in favor of a universal access health care model where economic status does not limit access.
